ENERGY LABEL

Energy labels provide users and customers with guidance in relation to the efficiency of their products, even if they do not have any particular knowledge of the product technologies used. As a result, they are not required for large units used for the purpose of room air conditioning or process cooling. In such cases, the manufacturer must only fulfil their documentation obligations and state the required efficiency values on the data sheets relating to the products.

We will now explain the information that must be provided on the labels for room air conditioning units, heat pumps and ventilation systems.

Hover your cursor over the interactive energy efficiency label to find out about the individual components.

    Key deadlines:

    • 26 September 2015: All space heaters in Lot 1 have to carry the efficiency scale with classes A++ to G. A scale with efficiency classes A to G simultaneously applies to Lot 2.
    • 26 September 2019: All space heaters now have to carry an energy efficiency label with classes A+++ to D.
  • The energy label for combination heaters with heat pump

Hover your cursor over the interactive energy efficiency label to find out about the individual components.

    Key deadlines:

    • 26 September 2015: All space heaters in Lot 1 have to carry the efficiency scale with classes A++ to G. A scale with efficiency classes A to G simultaneously applies to Lot 2
    • 26 September 2017: The scale for hot water heaters now has to include efficiency classes A+ to F.
    • 26 September 2019: All space heaters now have to carry an energy efficiency label with classes A+++ to D.
  • The package label

There are special labels for packages of space heater, temperature control and solar device, issued by suppliers, wholesalers or contractors, for composite systems consisting of space heaters or combined heaters and other components. They take into account temperature controls, solar systems, storage tanks and other heat generators. The energy efficiency labels here include classes A+++ to G.

Ecodan heat pumps are equipped as standard with an intelligent temperature controller and are therefore also considered as composite systems. Their efficiency class can be read on the package label. You can also hover your cursor here to call up further details.

Ecodan heat pumps also work sustainably in composite systems. Use the package label calculator to produce a label for your individual configuration.

    ErP data

According to the guideline, air handling units must save at least as much primary energy as they consume. All units are provided with relevant energy efficiency labels from class A+ to G. To classify the units, it is helpful to regard the characteristic values of the specific energy consumption (SEC). This value shows the energy-saving potential of the unit in kilowatt hours per m² and year. Central units with heat recovery system have a special position among air handling units for domestic ventilation. Their operation mode may have a significant impact on the energy class. It means in effect, a unit controlled manually or by a timer will usually reach a lower energy class than a unit using demand-based control, e.g. by means of sensors for humidity and CO2.
